Fusion Groover

 Sunday 6-8pm

 Body & Show Soul

Music has always been a big part of my life, and I started exploring different genres at a young age. Growing up in the vibrant city of London, I was exposed to a diverse range of music, from soul, jazz, funk, ska and reggae to name a few. I loved how music could connect people from different backgrounds and bring them together.

In the mid-80s, I started DJing with my brother Jazz T and some friends. We started off playing music at house parties and small events, using our sound system called Groovers Soul Power. We played soul, jazz, funk, and rare groove music, and the crowds loved it. We would often spend hours perfecting our mix and trying out new tracks. It was hard work, but it was also a lot of fun.

One of the highlights of my DJ career was in 1989 when my cousin DJ Mad B started a pirate radio station called Friends Fm. He invited me to have a weekly show on the station, and I jumped at the opportunity. I started playing jazz, dance, and fusion music, and it was around this time that I discovered house music.

I was fascinated by the energy and creativity of house music. I loved how it blended different genres and created a unique sound. I started collecting house records and experimenting with different sounds and beats. I was also inspired by the DJs who were at the forefront of the house music scene, such as Frankie Knuckles, Larry Levan, and David Morales alonside the many great DJs that sprung from the London pirate radio station scene.

As I gained more experience as a DJ, I was encouraged to do a second radio show, where I played a wide variety of house music. This was a really special and creative time for me musically. The UK jazz dance scene in 1985 was growing in a big way, and the rise of house music in 1988/9 was truly exciting. I loved being part of this vibrant and dynamic music scene.

Over the years, I have played in various clubs and events, and my music has evolved with time. Today, I am passionate about playing soulful house, broken beats and fusion of grooves selection. I believe that music has the power to uplift and inspire, and I love the energy and excitement.

Recently, Friends Radio launched an internet station, and I am thrilled to be a part of it. I am now doing weekly shows, where I play my favorite tracks and share stories from my DJ journey.

If you are a music lover like me, I invite you to join me every Sunday from 6-8 pm BST for the Body and Soul show on Friends Radio Online. You can also listen to my shows anytime on Mixcloud below.

Thank you for your support, and let's keep the music playing!
